Your JCPenney credit card is issued and managed by Synchrony Bank, which provides a secure online portal where you can handle virtually every aspect of your account — from checking your balance to scheduling payments — without ever having to call customer service. Getting set up takes just a few minutes, and once you’re in, you’ll have full visibility and control over your account around the clock.

Setting Up Your Online Account

Before you can manage your account online, you’ll need to register through the Synchrony Bank portal. Have your JCPenney credit card handy before you begin.
1

Visit the Synchrony Bank account portal

Go to www.synchronybank.com or navigate directly to the JCPenney credit card login page. You can also access the portal through a link on the JCPenney website.
2

Click 'Register' or 'Sign Up'

On the login page, look for the Register or Sign Up option. This is typically located below the existing-user login fields. Click it to begin the enrollment process.
3

Enter your card number and personal details

You’ll be prompted to enter your full credit card number along with some personal identifying information — such as the last four digits of your Social Security number, your date of birth, and the ZIP code associated with your account. This step verifies that you are the authorized cardholder.
4

Create a username and password

Choose a unique username and a strong password. Your password should be at least eight characters long and include a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters. Avoid using easily guessable information like your name or birthdate.
5

Set up security questions

Select and answer a set of security questions. These will be used to verify your identity if you ever need to recover your username or reset your password, so choose answers you’ll remember but that aren’t publicly known.
6

Access your account dashboard

Once registration is complete, you’ll be taken to your account dashboard. From here you can see your current balance, recent transactions, upcoming payment due date, and available credit — all in one place.

What You Can Do Online

Once you’re logged in, your Synchrony Bank account portal gives you a full suite of self-service tools. Here’s what you can manage directly from your dashboard:
  • View your current balance and available credit — Check in real time so you always know exactly where you stand before making a purchase.
  • Make one-time payments — Schedule a payment for any amount, from the minimum due to the full balance, and choose the date that works for you.
  • View and download statements — Access up to 24 months of past statements in PDF format, which is especially useful for tracking spending or resolving disputes.
  • Update your contact information — Keep your address, phone number, and email address current to ensure you receive important account notifications.
  • Set up or modify autopay — Automate your monthly payments so you never miss a due date (see the next section for full instructions).
  • Request a credit limit increase — If your financial situation has improved since you opened the account, you can submit a request directly through the portal.
  • Enroll in paperless statements — Opt out of paper mail and receive all statements and notices digitally.

Setting Up Autopay

Autopay is one of the best ways to protect your credit score and avoid late fees. Once it’s enabled, your chosen payment amount is automatically deducted from your bank account each month on or before your due date.
1

Log in to your account

Sign in to your Synchrony Bank account portal using your username and password.
2

Navigate to the Payments section

From your dashboard, select Payments in the main navigation menu, then choose AutoPay or Set Up Automatic Payments.
3

Link your bank account

Enter your bank’s routing number and your checking or savings account number. Synchrony Bank will use this account to pull your payment each month. Double-check the numbers carefully to avoid failed payment attempts.
4

Choose your payment amount

Select how much you want to pay automatically each month. Your options typically include:
  • Minimum payment due — Meets the requirement to keep your account in good standing, but interest will accrue on any remaining balance.
  • Statement balance — Pays off the full balance from your last statement cycle, avoiding new interest charges on those purchases.
  • Full/current balance — Clears your entire outstanding balance, including any new charges since your last statement.
  • Fixed amount — A specific dollar amount you choose, which must be at least equal to the minimum payment due.
5

Set a start date and confirm

Choose when you’d like autopay to take effect. Review all the details carefully, then confirm to activate the feature. You’ll receive a confirmation email once autopay is successfully set up.
If you set autopay to cover only the minimum payment due, any remaining balance carries over to the next billing cycle and begins accruing interest daily based on your average daily balance. Over time, paying only the minimum can significantly increase the total amount you pay for your purchases. Whenever your budget allows, choose the statement balance or full balance option to avoid interest charges altogether.
Enroll in paperless statements through your account dashboard to receive your monthly statement by email as soon as it’s available — often several days before a paper statement would arrive in the mail. Paperless delivery also reduces the risk of sensitive account documents being lost or intercepted.
If you run into any issues accessing your account, need to report an unauthorized charge, or have questions that can’t be resolved through the portal, contact Synchrony Bank customer service at the phone number printed on the back of your JCPenney credit card. Representatives are available to help with account-specific issues that require identity verification.
